It's better at transferring big files if the two of you live in the same area. Unlike other clients which connect thru their servers, on Skype the file transfers are direct connection to one another. They run blazing fast if you live in the same city.

Yep. No wonder any file Duckula sends to me takes forever

That's cool. Unfortunatley, Shovenose and I live on the opposite sides of the globe.

Lol. And we both have crappy internet with slow upload speeds!
