The laptop thread version 2.0

Postby shovenose » July 2nd, 2011, 8:10 am

Well, remember how I said I was gonna get a laptop back at the old CPSRF and I never did?
Well, since I got my first paycheck yesterday and my mother gave me back my credit card, I can start looking at laptops agian.
(But first I'm going to sell 5 of my other computers!!! And until then I will not buy the laptop. Why? Because that will be my motivation to SELL SELL SELL!)

My Requirements:
-Intel Core i3, i5, or i7. No Pentiums of Core 2 craps.
-4GB RAM
-320GB HDD
-Decent graphics for gaming, etc, (I don't do much gaming but I want to have the ability to. If a laptop is great otherwise this won't be the dealbreaker)
-No HP or Compaq. Sorry, but just NO!
-Windows 7
-Wireless N
-3 USB ports
-DVD Burner
-As quiet as possible. And no laptops like some Sony computers that make a noise when you turn it on, I can't have that happening.
-Price: Um, $700 (not including shipping, tax, etc)

I was poking around at newegg today, and I came up with a few nice ones:
A decent samsung one. It's cheap which is good:

OMG I just LOVE this Lenovo

I'm also gonna venture down to Best Buy sometime soon to look at their offerings.

I THINK I WILL GET THIS ONE:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Lenovo+-+Id ... Id=2731265
I CAN PICK IT UP AT THE LOCAL BEST BUY. I ACTUALLY HAVE ENOUGH $$$ I THINK BUT I NEED TO PUT SOME IN THE BANK AND PUT MY PAYCHECK IN THE BANK.
SERIOUSLY I THINK I WILL GET THIS ONE WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?
Lenovo - IdeaPad V570 Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 15.6" Display / 6GB Memory / 640GB Hard Drive - Silver Gray / Our Price: $629.99

I will of course test it out at the store to see if I like it, but it's a Lenovo, it's got 6GB of ram, and it's not some stupid colorful childish looking piece of crap. :D

Nooooo Ideapads! they are an embarrasment to lenovo. Stick with thinkpads if at all possible. I'll suggest a few when I am on my PC not my iPod. Also to be avoided are laptops with good graphics. They overheat and cook themselves after a few years.
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the coils backwards! :D

Lol. What's wrong with IdeaPads. But...6GB RAM and a 640GB HDD and a good brand for $630!!!
I pretty much already decided upon this one. But if you give me a good reason not to buy it I won't :D

Reliability. Ideapads are no better than HP[hr]
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+R ... Id=2775225

That one looks good

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+Q ... Id=2776251

Bit more expensive, but a bit more powerful

Have you seen them come in to LCC dead? I've seen a ton of (newer) core 2 duo Lenovo ThinkPads come in dead to the place I work at.
I still rather have a Lenovo than an HP.

I've never seen an ideapad ever (because no one has them around here), I'm going purely from what I've heard other say and reliability serveys done by other companies (and my boss's reluctance to sell them)

I'd be going for a samsung. I've never seen any of them fail before.

Are they cheap? No. LOL. And I really would rather not spend too much.
Those surverys are not very reliable.
For example Apple rates high in Customer Satisfaction why again? (they stole the hard drive out of a MacBook Pro I brought in to be repaired under warranty)...
Oh right, because all the people that have Macs and take the surveys are retarded Apple fanpeople.

I think I'll buy the IdeaPad :D
