I got myself a freebie HP ProLiant ML150 G3 (as well as two older PCs - an AXP and a s478 P4, and a thin client) for free in exchange for some help installing some new PCs at a local office here. Now I just have to decide what to do with it...

That looks like a Delta dual ball bearing fan, so I wonder if it's going bad.... the explanation I can think of is is that it might have been subject to caustic shock (IE, exceeding its shock resistance) at the hands of the previous owner or someone else. Or maybe it's just noisy because it's an aged dual ball bearing fan. Two 560uF polymers for the VCORE... that sounds like something ASUS would do. Who manufactured the motherboard?

That PC has seen several years of 24/7 use, so I'm kind of leaning towards it being an aging ball-bearing fan. I'm not sure who the OEM is for the motherboard. I don't think it's ASUS, though. It doesn't have the backwards polarity markings on the capacitors. It actually bears a bit of a resemblance to some MSI-made HP boards. I'm really not too sure, though.
