I know 5400 and 7200RPM are stanard...now why did Seagate choose 5900RPM?

IDK. Could it because 5900RPM drives consume less power and are quieter than 7200RPM drives but not as slow as 5400RPM drives?

Seagate Barracuda LP series drives are 5900RPM as well.

My answer was that seagate is stupid, but then I decided there has to be a reason...

But would there even bee a noticeable perforamnce increase in those 400RPM?

probably unnoticeable in daily use. probably will make slightly differences in benchmark? IDK. But 5900RPM is certainly not as stupid as WD 808.8GB HDD.

So they can market the drives as new tech, coz 5400rpm has been around for AGES.
