A RAID-0 of 25 x ST3160827AS, or a single HDS724040ALE640???

25 HDDs in RAID 0? I think a single Hitachi HDD would have less chance of failure than that. I haven't had the best luck with Hitachi, but I don't think they have 25x more failure rates than Seagate.

I know making a RAID-0 of that many drives is ridiculous but frankly, I'm not sure the reliability of current drives is any less ridiculous. :D

Hard to say. I still don't think failures have increased by 25x.
