ASUS unveils Socket FM1 board for LLano APU

Much to my amusement, the specific Socket FM1 motherboard that ASUS shows off at ComputeX 2011 has NO video output connectors. So what‘s the poing of purchasing an APU if not for its integrated powerful GPU?! (by the way, the code name of the desktop APU processors is Husky. )

The lack of a video connector isn't the only reason I wouldn't buy it. I've had too many bad experiences to trust ASUS boards.

I haven't used any ASUS boards so far so I don't have problems with them. I always use Gigabyte for my friends whenever I build a PC for them because we can get a better service from Gigabyte here. (I used to use Biostar but it failed me multiple times. So I won't touch any of Biostar products ever again. One example: I built a computer for one of my highschool classmate using a Biostar NF4-AM2L board and it died three times in less than 2 years. (died->repaired->died-repaired->died->went to another brand.)

I don't think Biostar is that good either. I've only ever seen a couple, but I didn't like them. The slots all felt really loose and it was easy to knock the RAM and cards out. If it was running, it would only take a small bump to make the PC crash because of the RAM briefly losing contact with the DIMM slot, and I killed a 7950GT in it by accidentally knocking it while it was running.

That ASUS board in the picture looks to be covered in Apaq caps

BTW: Could you identify the caps on the ASUS P8H61-M board in the attachment? Are they Apaq too?

Yup. those are apaq

They are a type of polymer cap, but they use a wet polymer electrolyte, not the solid electrolyte used by japanese manufacturs Chemi-con and Nichicon. If not done right, a wet polymer electrolyte can still produce hydrogen inside the cap, however in a polymer cap, the can will turn into a flying projectile, rather than the usual bulge and leak seen in traditional electrolytic capacitors.
