A but unrelated but I set up a guest network for my apartment building. I had a fun time flashing an old Linksys 54G v.6 with DD-WRT then I set up an unsecured network called "Lanai-Guest" (Lanai Apartments is the name of the apartments)...

It's set to (using Qos) a max of 200Kbps down and 100Kbps up, so while it's fine for email, etc, it probably won't work for illegal torrents nor would it (hopefully not) work for other disgusting illegal stuff like child porn, etc...

So, you set up an old Linksys router so that other people can use it? Wouldn't it be slow because, in time, local people will use the router?

How many fast is the internet in terms of mb/sec?

My internet is not that great, but 200K up/down will not be a big drag on it. (yes i increased it to 200 each way)

you still share bandwidth in the end of the day. So if 1 fires up a torrent client the other one is going to feel it
