c_hegge calls it "ASDS - Asus Sudden Death Syndrome" sometimes they just die (lousy manufacting)

It's not just me. Nearly everyone on badcaps calls it that.

Nuke wrote:Well, I don't think it's dead, because it had the green light on earlier.

All that tells us is that it's getting 5Vsb power from the PSU. It's common for a failed motherboard to get that, but still not work. In any case, it may or may not be that if the board is that new. I'd be trying the power supply in another PC (or another power supply in this PC), to rule out a load-related problem with the power supply. If this power supply can definately power up a PC, then it's time to send the board back.

Right.

So I'm going to buy a new cooler and motherboard since my warranty is expired on this motherboard and I won't be able to get a replacement.

Oh well.

$248 for a motherboard from MSI and a liquid cooler from Corsair.

Is that good?

That's not bad at all. Personally, I like Gigabyte boards (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128510), but MSI is my next preference. Liquid cooling is probably not a bad idea for a 125W CPU, since they do generate a fair amount of heat.

I agree with c_hegge. That motherboard he linked to is good for a decent price!
Sorry you had to be a victim ASDS, now you know not to buy Asus motherboards :)

I see.

I'll just disassemble my computer now.

Thanks guys.

EDIT: Done, so now I just need to order the parts.

It doesn't look bad for the price.

Nah. I'm just wondering about if it'll work with my AM3+, seeing as my Antec didn't fit the socket (although it was marked as compatible on Newegg).
