I think the air conditioner in the dining area (being an inverter type, Fujitsu ASTG30LFCC), when on, generates RFI that degrades my internet connectivity (or the Wi-Fi between the NBN box and my PC, anyway); while I've had it on to heat, my connection has dropped out left, right and center.

(I bet the amount of filtering incorporated into those units is the bare minimum needed to pass the mandatory standards. I'm sure the use of an unshielded 3C+E cable to the outdoor unit doesn't help, either.)

Consequently, I've ended up resorting to the Kambrook KFH660 (my house is quite small, so 2.4kW is enough to warm it noticeably, though not drastically).
So much for saving electricity, but at least my internet connection seems to be holding up better. We do also have smaller units (Fujitsu ASTG09KMCA) in the bedrooms, but those don't seem to be ruining my connectivity (or at least, the one in Mum's room doesn't; to be fair, that's at the opposite end of the house).

How I'll cope with summer is another question…

Use Cat. 5e or better. Cable's a cable's a cable!

If my PC and the NBN box were in the same room, I would. We don't have any fixed Ethernet wiring, and I'd have to check with Mum if we're to get it added…

Well, today my Wi-Fi connection seemed to hold up against a vacuum cleaner being used. So I've turned the A/C on again and that seems OK too.

I'm not sure what's really going on. (I was just speculating last time, to tell the truth.) The only other "simple" variable that comes to (my) mind would be whether the door is opened/closed, but it's closed most of the time (including now) so who knows… (I did have a few drop-outs in the meantime, although nowhere near the worst I've experienced.)
Maybe there's another interference source I haven't checked for, or an intermittent fault somewhere, or something I can't do anything about…
(Though my connection is by no means marvelous even at the best of times; it currently tests at about 16Mb/s download and 18Mb/s upload.)

Yo already checked the caps and CPU temps? :silly: Most routers tend to have inadequate cooling, and you know how it's with caps (both in it AND the power supply, if it's switched-mode).

Now that you remind me, I looked inside the box and it does have two Lelon RXW (equivalent in specs to Chemi-con LXZ/Nichicon PW) series caps (a 220μF 10V 6.3mm and a custom 560μF 16V 10mm). The PSU (made by AcBel) is yet another of those plastic-welded bastards…
