I'll also add:

Coupling capacitors on headphone outputs must be no smaller than 470µF. (Going higher still doesn't hurt, but will take up extra PCB area for no noticeable gain. Well, audio coupling capacitors in general should be sized to keep the −3dB frequency at least an octave below the lowest frequency of interest, but it's rare for them to be undersized on inputs or [non-headphone] line-level outputs.)

Maybe not. Still: Is there anything I specified that you seriously disagree with?

I would also add:
  • Imperial measurements would be abolished. (Frankly, I'm astonished that they've survived this long, given how convoluted and unintuitive they are.)
  • Appliances must be rated for the total energy to manufacture, as well as for operating energy efficiency.
  • Video games would have difficulty ratings as well as content ratings.
  • Easily broken parts of devices, such as battery covers and keyboard angle adjusters, must be available as spares at reasonable prices.
  • Quality keyboards would be better available. As the PC Guide noted:
Since keyboards get relatively little attention compared to other components, the trend in PC bundles over the years has been to go to the cheapest designs possible that aren't sufficiently poor to lead to technical support calls. :-)

I think the modern world is overclocked, to use the closest available analogy. Of course, I'm with Charles on it.

It's not the point. Go vote with your purse, not pushing other people with force.

You can get many quality keyboards with Cherry MX switches, what's the problem, don't have the money? Well than it's your problem isn't it.

This thread is just for fun — I'm not seriously trying to impose it on the world.
