Cooler Master adds the Sandcrawler, eh, MasterBox 5t

Coming just after the Mastercase 5t in Coller Master’s product lineup, there’s another new contender, namely the Cooler Master MasterBox 5t (MCX-B5S3T-RWNN). The company says it was inspired by the Mastercase 5t but the MasterBox is definitely a lower tier case. So we could theoretically call it “turbo lite” haha, but, well… I wasn’t sure what to think of this case initialy because that protrusion at the top looks like a tumorous growth. But I soon realised that what we’re actually looking at is the Cooler Master Sandcrawler! Just have a look for yourself! If it was indeed the Sandcrawler, then perhaps the strange name that they gave it would have made more sense. Otherwise, you’ll have to pardon me for saying this, but MasterBox is a name perhaps more suitable for a toolbox you would keep in the garage, and not for a computer case. But hey, at least we now know what they were actually aiming for, so I think that 9 out of 10 Jawas agree with this name.

On a more serious note, the Cooler Master MasterBox 5t is just another version of the basic MasterBox 5. So the skeleton is the same (besides having reddish motherboard tray), but thanks to the plastic panels it is slightly bigger, measuring 541.2 × 220 x 513.5 mm and weighing 7.7 kg. It also has windowed left-hand side panel. This version offers no 5.25″ external drive bays, the original ones are removed and there is no option to install them after the fact because of the new style of front panel. The others do remain though, and they are two 3.5/2.5″ convertible bays on the bottom next to the PSU and there is also an additional 2.5″ position, as well as a whole lot of positions on the back of the motherboard tray which you can use to install extra 2.5″ SSDs.

As for cooling positions, all of them remain as well. And they are one 140mm front fan, two top 140mm ones and one 120mm rear. The front and rear positions come pre-installed with 120mm models. On the fron I/O panel we can find two USB 3.0 ports, two audio jacks and fan speed adjustment buttons. There are also front and bottom fan filters. The MSRP of the Cooler Master MasterBox 5t is 2400 CZK or 89 Euros.
