Next-generation SilentiumPC Supremo FM2 Gold series hit the market

SilentiumPC has just introduced new series of their power supplies, the Supremo FM2 Gold. There are two units available at the moment, 650W (SPC168) and 750W (SPC169), both fully-modular. These units appear to be made by SAMA and they are 80 PLUS Gold certified @115 V, having universal input. One of the notable advantages is the use of quality capacitors. From the pictures available, most of them seem to be from Nippon Chemi-Con, including polymers.

The units are, as could be expected, actually +12V supplies with DC–DC buck regulators for +3.3 and +5 V rails., which deliver 18 A (or 100 W combined) in both cases. The single +12V rail itself delivers close to full power output with stand-by supply providing 3 A. Another interesting feature is the use of dual ball-bearing 12cm fan from NMB, one of the best fan manufacturers available. The hysteresis is set up so that the fan stays under 700RPM up to approx. 50% load and then speeds up to 1500 RPM with increasing power output.

Both the Supremo FM2 Gold units supposedly only have OPP, from the more advanced protections. It is safe to assume the DC–DC regulator actually has its own OCP anyway, but OTP is most likely not present. SilentiumPC provides basic 3-year warranty with two extra years upon registering within 30 days of the purchase. The untis are currently available for 359/399 PLN in Poland, or 2300/2500 CZK here in CZ. That would exchange for approx. 93.5 and 103 US dollars.
