Power Logic Magnum Pro 315 Power Supply Review

First Look

Power Logic is a brand based in Singapore, whose products are available in some Asian, South American, European, and Middle-Eastern countries. Unfortunately, the box for this power supply was badly damaged during shipping, but there wasn’t much marketing worth commenting on anyway. So, we’ll get straight into reviewing the power supply today, which is undamaged.

It’s interesting to note that small blurb on the label:

Powerlogic advocates the use of PURE or REAL power. This mark the capability of the Power Supply to supply the rate power for a prolonged period of time and not an indication of a burst of power for some of the supplied voltage.

I’m presuming this means that Power Logic believe in honest ratings. However I do already see a problem with the label. This is a single rail power supply, not a dual rail like the label claims it to be. Looking at the distribution, we can see that there is supposed to be 15A of 12V capacity, and 22A of 5V capacity. It would be preferable to have more current on the 12V rail. The power supply is painted dark grey, and has a blue LED fan.

Cables

In the way of connectors, we have a 20+4 pin ATX connector, a 4 pin ATX12V CPU connector, three SATA power connectors, two molex/peripheral connectors, one FDD connector and a 6 pin PCI-E power connector. This is enough connectors for a basic PC, but a few extra SATA and molex connectors would be nice. The wires leading to the ATX and CPU connectors are all the recommended thickness (18AWG). The other wires are all a size thinner (20AWG).

The grilles are nice and open, with a wire intake grille and honeycomb exhaust grille. The fan has a brand name sticker on top, so we can see that it is branded HXS. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but we’ll find out a bit later how it performs.
