Preview: Linkworld Stability Power LPJ9-25 420 W

Linkworld! This brand has long been known for making very cheap, but also very bad power supplies. So just seeing this name brings panic attacks to some people. I am somewhat afraid that this Linkworld Stability Power LPJ9-25 model labeled 420 W will not make them better. Considering the average quality of Linkworld units, using the name “Stability Power” is most likely dark humor. I wonder if the “25” in the name actually means the real power of 250 watts.

As you can see, this unit is a return to old times of paper-thin chassis with only basic zinc coating. Also the venting holes are small and you can see yourself how the pieces fit together. The casing is also small, I think Linkworld here competes with Silverstone at power density :-P The Linkworld Stability Power LPJ9-25 is a somewhat older unit, but it can still be bought in Czech republic in one store for slightly over 500 CZK (or for 29 Eur in Germany). As always with these wonders, there are many versions under the same name.

This one has three SATA connectors, another with only two has different casing and most likely also internals. It seems to once again be some ATX version 1.3 unit as it still has very heavy +3.3/+5 V rails while not that powerful +12 V. Summing the power of different rails of the Linkworld Stability Power LPJ9-25 gives you well over 420 W. But according to the label the +3.3/+5V have combined power of only 185 W, when you add all the remaining rails you only get 408.6 W. Where is the rest?! I wanna my 420 watts!
