Preview: semi-passive Super Flower Leadex Platinum 750 W

Today is a great day as we are going to check out my first 750W unit! And it is none other than the Super Flower Leadex Platinum 750 W (SF-750F14MP). This particular series (Leadex Platinum) is actually not that old, it arrived only about a year ago, succeeding the older Golden King / Platinum Ice Butterfly. You can see that from the 80 PLUS Platinum (@115 V) certification report. This time Super Flower offers 750W model casing which is just slightly deeper (150 × 86 × 165 mm) than standard ATX size (150 × 86 × 140 mm). Not only that, but the unit is also semi-passive (ECO mode), while the user may still switch the fan into ordinary always-running mode (AUTO).

Super Flower Leadex Platinum 750 W outter view

As we can see, this unit is fully-modular, Super Flower uses special connectors instead of usual combination of PCI Express and EPS connectors. The good part is that apart from the motherboard connectors, all the remaining ones are universal so you cannot make any mistake. This unit is covered by 5-year warranty and comes in white or black color. Retail availability is somewhat limited mostly to Europe at the moment. And even here in Europe it is available in only a handful of countries. Actual price starts at approx. 150 Eur.

The Super Flower Leadex Platinum 750 W is of course a modern unit bearing only a single physical +12 V rail. It directly capable of providing current of 62.4 A (which equals 748.8 W). But it can also feed DC-DC converters for +3.3 and +5 V rails, capable of 20 A each (100 W combined). Stand-by rail provides 2.5 A, −12 V rail 0.5 A. Ordinary figures for these secondary rails…but Super Flower has a great reputation for their higher-end units, let’s hope it will also be true of this unit!
