Preview: Enermax Digifanless 550 W – the most powerful digital fanless unit

Finally, we have something special here, the Enermax Digifanless 550 W (EDF550AWN). At the moment it is the most powerful passive unit with some digital thingy on top of that. It comes with 80 PLUS Platinum certfication (@115 V), fully modular cabling and 5-year warranty for the price of 6700 CZK, however, it seems the unit is not available in Australia, not yet anyway.

The modular cabling is individually sleeved, which…looks fancy but, well, isn’t it somewhat defeating the purpose of sleeving? I always thought you sleeve cables to keep them together while it looks better than just sticking them with zip ties. Here you have a whole bundle of individual cables which are five times as thick as usual. Really, how is that going to help you keep order in your cables? Anyway, besides this, the unit provides this ZDPMS (Zero Delay Power Monitoring System) capable of measuring actual power values and letting you manage the over-power protection limits, +12 V rails etc.

Default setting is with two +12V rails, 30 A each. In reality, it is a single +12 V unit with DC-DC modules providing 20 A each (+3.3/+5 V) and splitting the remaining power into two channels with OCPs for monitoring them. The −12 V rail provides up to half an amp, that’s nice, and the stand-by supply gives usual 2.5 A max. I am already curious to look at how this digital stuff works…and how the whole unit performs.
