CeBIT 2016 Hannover: power supplies, enclosures and more

Lian-Li

While Lian-Li had a few PSU series, their main focus are cases of all different shapes and uses. They also make a special product each year, this time it is a case in the shape of a yacht! I am not sure if it will actually float though. But it can accommodate Mini-ITX board, SFX power supply and quite a long graphics card as well. The name is PC-Y6.

Also a very nice piece is the PC-TU300X enclosure in the shape of a suitcase, even with small wheels! Nice. It should even take Full ATX motherboard and a slim optical drive. I think this is an ultimate solution to really portable, but really workstation. Some of those crazy things from companies like Eurocom with desktop Core i7 CPUs and two high-end graphics cards…that’s just crazy shit which overheats, has very short lifespan and will not run on battery for more than a few minutes anyway. Here you can squeeze similar computing power without the fear it will melt down. And it is still easily mobile!

Besides the yacht, Lin-Li showed quite many new products at CeBIT 2016. Besides an older DK-Q2 table case, there was a new prototype which is taller and can accommodate a graphics card directly in the motherboard, not via adapter only. It even had motorized legs, thanks to which it was possible to lift the table up! However, I have not noticed the name.

Most of the Lian-Li cases are made from aluminium, but they also showed a prototype of steel case, the PC-K6X. It’s an ordinary mid-tower, most likely it will be slightly more price oriented as the aluminium cases are often more expensive. But it has an independent zone for PSU and the sides come with noise-damping material.

Another new case was the PC-K5X, it may be little more than an aluminium version of the K6X.

Than also a PC-J60 duo (one completely black, and the other one with some red parts). They also share this new conception of bottom HDD/PSU compartment and than the larger space for motherboard and cards.

Another new series is the PC-O, coming in three sizes: PC-O7SX, PC-O6SX and PC-O5SX. The two smaller ones take Micro-ATX boards while the largest one can handle E-ATX or HP-TX boards. They all share some similarities with the tables as they have PCIe cable extender and their side is made from large piece of tempered glass. These may be a good piece of furniture for your living room.

That’s still not all, there is more! The PC-O8W is more cubical and come in several colors. They all make use of the tempered glass, this time on almost all the sides. They are basically consisting of two compartments, one for motherboard and possibly water cooling radiator, the other one for all the remaining components.

Another new model is the PC-Q34 which basically is just the PC-O8W with one of the sides made of solid aluminium, thus not transparent. Only the other half with the motherboard is transparent. So if you enjoy starring on your board, but not on the hard drives and cable mess, this is the one for you as you can hide all the “dirty” stuff in the back side and only display the motherboard. There is also surprisingly lot of space inside. Notice the position for a slim optical drive on the upper rear.

Lian-Li also prepared combinations of aluminium PC-Q34 cases with mouses and keyboards in the same manner. The mouses appear to be laser, but the keyboards are ordinary scissor-switch ones. While Lian-Li does not wish to provide any high-end or gaming peripherals, more like just provide their customers who like unified style of product with such, we have yet another brand of peripherals now.
