Silverstone Strider Essential Gold 600 W – bringing essential to next level

Primary side

The primary side starts with a bridge rectifier, the Lite-On GBU15L06. It can handle continuous current of 15 A with heatsink at 115 °C and 600 V, or 550 A surge (1 ms) at 25 °C. Voltage drop is 0.9 V per diode at 7.5 A. It has small aluminium heatsink mounted to itself and packed in an insulation tape – that makes much sense to use heatsink and then thermally insulate both. Two Infineon IPA60R190C6 transistors (20.2/59 A at 25 °C and 650 V, Rds(On) 0.19 Ω at 9.5 A and 25 °C, 0.44 Ω at 150 °C) are in the boost-type PFC circuit toegether with ST Micro STTH8R06FP (8/30 A at 600 V and 130 °C, drop of 2.9 V at 8 A and 25 °C) diode. Everything is in TO-220FP package and mounted to the common primary side black-anodized heatsink. The PFC coil seems big enough and is double-insulated using extra PCB beneath and insulation tape around. Capacitor charged by the PFC circuitry is Nippon Chemi-Con KMR 330 μF/450 V with endurance of 2000 hours at 105 °C (and ripple). Measures about 290 μF.

Vstup

Once again FSP uses proprietary microcontroller labeled 6600D which controls both the PFC and the primary switchers. It is located on a small daughterboard next to the input filtration. The auxiliary winding of stand-by transformer powering all the driving circuitry uses Rubycon YXF 100/50 capacitor after the rectifier and a single Chemi-Con KY 47/35 by the controller board. Switching itself uses two transistors, the Infineon SPA17N80C3 (17/51 A at 25 °C and 800 V, Rds(On) 0.29  Ω at 11 A and 25 °C, 0.78 Ω at 150 °C) and Fairchild FQPF3N80C (3/12 A at 25 °C and 800 V, Rds(On) 4.8 Ω at 1.5 A), both in TO-220F package. Again mounted on common primary heatsink.

+5 V stand-by rail

The stand-by rail is also being controlled from within the proprietary FSP 6600D chip. A CET-MOS N-FET is used for switching, the CEF02N7G (2/8 A at 25 °C and 700 V, Rds(On) 6.75 Ω at 1 A) in TO-220F package, mounted on the common primary heatsink.

SB

On the secondary side is the ST Micro STPS20L60CT rectifier (20/30 A at 140 °C and 60 V, drop of 0.74 V at 20 A and 25 °C) in TO-220 package. Both diodes are in parallel and it is not insulated with heatshrink (unlike in the Antec Earthwatts Platinum), that will help the cooling a little bit. Filter consists of two Nippon Chemi-Con KZE 3300/10 capacitors.
